The departure from the island of Tenerife to the island of El Hierro
At 7:20 in the morning the meeting point is at the port of Los Cristianos, in front of the ARMAS ticket office, obviously for those who want to, we are available with pick-up service in some points of Costa Adeje, Las Americas and Los Cristianos. Once the appeal is complete, we can board the ferry and enjoy the trip, in just over two hours we will be ready to land on the island of El Hierro.
At the port of El Hierro we will board our bus, the view points are waiting for us!
At the “Port de La Estaca” we will go in our bus and after some recommendations we will start our fantastic excursion.
We will visit some of the most exciting viewpoints that the island offers starting from that of “ISORA”, a fabulous view of an arch-shaped bay called Las Playas where we will be able to see one of the symbols of the island “El Roque de la Bonanza”.
After a short stop we will set off again calmly to the 1300 meters of the “Mirador de Jinama”, from which, weather permitting, we will be able to see the western islands of the Canary Islands (La Palma, La Gomera and the island of Tenerife) with the Teide stands out above all! Obviously we will be at a considerable height and thanks to the warm and dry trade winds we will be able to enjoy splendid colors and visibility that can only be found on the Canary Islands!
Frontera rural park and the Laurisilva ecosystem
During our descent, towards the “Rural Park of Frontera”, we will discover the various bio-climatic steps of the smallest of the Canary Islands. We will pass inside the Laurisilva (from the Latin laurel forest) and enjoy its incredible show. A natural ecosystem that existed at the time of the dinosaurs and which then became extinct during the ice age. Obviously these plants survive thanks to the humidity that only the cold and humid trade winds can offer with the miracle of horizontal rain!
In Laurisilva we will find an infinity of endemic plants that we will not be able to find anywhere else in the world, an ecological complex that would deserve to be described in a particular way in one of the next articles that I intend to write.
La Frontera and the typical lunch
Here we are in LA FRONTERA where we will have the opportunity to visit the church of La Candelaria, as well as the arena where the “Lucha Canaria” takes place and we can calmly enjoy a break in the bar tasting the local wines. After resuming the journey we will stop at the restaurant where we will serve a typical lunch, a menu prepared especially for us, also suitable for coeliacs (for any other information or food problems do not hesitate to contact us).
The natural pools and the smallest hotel in the world.
Subsequently, passing through the cultivations of Pineapple, Papaya, Mango and Platano canario, we will head to the natural pools of La Maceta:
during the summer months it is also possible to swim!
With due calm we will continue to the most popular points of the island!
The Las Puntas area where the PUNTA GRANDE hotel is located, a very special hotel that has collected various titles over time, first of all “the world’s smallest hotel according to the Guinness World Record” and among others it has been declared a BIC ” asset of cultural interest “by the Canary Islands Government in 2018.
Last stop MIRADOR DE LA PEÑA.
Positioned on the top of the caldera that forms the Gulf of La Frontera, about 700 meters high, we will find Il MIRADOR DE LA PEÑA, entirely designed and built by Cesar Manrique. A breathtaking sight, an exciting overhang that will allow us to observe the entire gulf and the “Los Roques del Salmor” and will give us a moment of relaxation with the opportunity to have a good coffee before returning to the port.
