Gran Canaria's protected landscapes: dunes, forests and mountains
Discover Tamadaba, Maspalomas Dunes, Roque Nublo and the remarkable protected environments of Gran Canaria.

Gran Canaria is home to remarkably varied landscapes, from pine forests and steep ravines to dry coastal habitats and volcanic formations, all within a relatively compact island.
Tamadaba Natural Park is known for its mountain scenery and Canarian pine forest. On the southern coast, the dunes of Maspalomas form a fragile sandy ecosystem where visitors must respect designated routes.
Roque Nublo is an iconic geological landmark. Other inland areas, including Inagua and several deep ravines, preserve habitats that make the island valuable for nature conservation.
Check official access requirements and local restrictions before setting out. Staying on permitted trails and carrying out litter are simple ways to protect these landscapes.
